WITH reference to your telegram No. 10 of the 14th instant, I have the honour to inform you that the compensation for the piracy of the steam-ship "Sainam" has been paid.
The withdrawal of our increased patrol is being arranged, and, as there are no officers at Canton competent to take over the work, I am endeavouring to induce the Wai-wu Pu to provide them.
